5 things to keep in mind when searching fo a wedding planner

Imagine this scenario for a moment; you show up at the church for your wedding rehearsal and notice that the florist is decorating with the wrong flowers.  Or you get to your reception and there's no dj.  What do you do?  If you have the right wedding planner coordinating your day then you won't have to worry.  A wedding planners job is to direct a perfectly produced wedding for you.

Think of hiring a wedding planner as the best gift you'll ever give yourself.  Our advice?  Make sure you hire the right wedding planner so that she does indeed do her job.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when searching for a wedding planner:

  1. Have a list - When you show up to interview your potential wedding planner have a list of things you need help with and then ask them if they're able to provide those services for you.  Not all wedding planners are created equal.
  2. Negotiation - Your wedding planner should be able to negotiate contracts for you with other wedding vendors..such as your dj, photographer, florist, venue, etc..  Does she have the ability and experience in doing that?
  3. Trends - Is she up to date with the latest trends and how to pull off the theme you want?
  4. Troubleshooter - What happens if something goes wrong?  Ask her to give you a few scenarios that she's had to deal with at other weddings and what the outcome was.
  5. References - She should be able to give you letters of recommendation from other brides who love her.
