4 ways to save on a designer wedding dress

As a bride I'm sure that you're looking for ways to trim your wedding budget.  How do you do that and still having the wedding of your dreams?  One of the easiest ways is by getting creative with your wedding dress.  Here are 4 ways to save money on a wedding dress...even on designer gowns:

Cut back on embellishments - This can lower the price tag by up to 20%.  Get that gorgeous lace and beading on the bodice but cut back on hemline, waistline and train embellishments.

Find a dress that fits - If you search for a dress that needs limited alterations you can save up to $300 per adjustment.  That's a lot of money when you consider that alterations on the neckline and/or changing the shape of the dress can cost you $1,000+.

Shop sample sales - Wedding gown shops and designers often put their winter and summer lines on sale in the spring and fall.  If you're wedding is a few months or a year away then you're in a great position to purchase a beautiful designer dress at an 80% discount.

Think "simple." - The more fabric it takes to make a gown the more it costs.  However, this is your day and you should have the dress of your dreams.  So remember the other three tips above and splurge a bit on that ball gown you've dreamed of.
