We think deciding to hold
your wedding in a gorgeous location like Hawaii is a great move. You get to share a delightful, informal day
set against a stunning backdrop with your loved ones.
But there’s one thing
that you need to think through carefully...your budget.
With a fixed budget in mind, the number of people that you can invite
will be limited. Do you stick to
immediate family only? Or does the
thought of leaving behind your closest friend of twenty years put you into a
cold sweat?
You also need to consider
if you will have to ask guests to pay all or part of their trips. It’s understandable if you feel guilty about
this. However, it’s your wedding day and
you shouldn’t compromise on your dream location to accommodate the circumstances
and preferences of others.
You will have to discuss
with your partner what is right for both of you. It may be that some family members or friends
will feel hurt if they are excluded. Be
prepared for this reaction and explain how and why you made the decision. Reassure them that you still want to share
your celebrations with them and arrange a party for those who couldn’t go when
you get back.
If you’re thinking of a
destination Hawaii wedding, give us a call. We have
talked through these kinds of fears with couples in the past and can help you
to figure out what’s right for you.
